Finally!!!

After much waiting (which I am so NOT good at) for my supplies to arrive and then finally getting the sun to come out long enough to get a decent photo, I am able to complete and post this project. It turned out just like the picture in my head and that's always a good thing! The table was in a sorry state but very sturdy---the same could not be said of the chairs. They truly were meant for the dumpster. They needed a lot more love but the result, I think is charming

So, at long last.....the finished set

What do you think? Game table?
Breakfast table? Maybe for a Sunroom or a screened porch? Can't decide---all I know is I like it!

In The Meantime......

You know, even the BEST intentions can't make the postal system any faster, so while I have been waiting...and waiting...and waiting, for some much needed supplies to complete my previous project, I picked up these amazing frames at the flea market and the next thing I knew, I had these oh so cute chalkboards. So. Fun.

And then, because I was still waiting, I made a trip to the salvage yard and found four sets of these old interior shutters. You know the kind--the hinged wooden ones that are louvered. Anyway, a few slats were missing but I thought they might still have potential and got to work.

Can't Resist

OK-So, I just can't wait to finish this project and couldn't resist posting at least a bit of what's done so far. It's just too fun not to share! And the best part? There's more to come.......

I'm Still Here!!!! Back At It...

So, after way too much summer traveling and way too much time away from my sand paper and paint brushes, I'm back in my paint splattered work clothes and pony tail and happily working on a new project with my faithful collie buddies snoozing to the sounds of my drill and staple gun. A few weeks ago, I happened by my daughters house as she was getting ready to haul some "junk" away for her landlord. After all my years of dumpster diving, the dumpster came to me and I rescued a few treasures right then and there. So, I'm working on some great stuff and should have a complete post next week.

In the meantime, see if you can guess what the pictures below have to do with each other...

Tea For Two

These two delicate chairs, although old and somewhat forgotten, had a lot of character. The carving on the legs and backs are intricate and detailed. It put me in mind of an old victorian parlor or sitting room. The little plant stand and octagonal lazy susan in the picture on the right inspired another idea for me.

Charming...How do you take your tea? I think this turned out so sweet.

Shoe Stop

This lonely little bench had definitely seen better days when I picked it up. Several layers of bad upholstery and neglect to the solid pine base left little to be desired and I felt sorry for the poor thing.

Now, with new updated fabric and sleek satin black paint, this hallway bench serves as a soft landing to remove shoes and boots and a welcome seat for little ones while mom ties laces and slips on mittens.

A Woman's Work is Never Done....

After seeing this sad little desk and potentially cute and comfy chair in a local thrift shop, I just had to try my hand at making them a cohesive set for some work at home mom who appreciates style as well as function for her home office.

The result is a classic, clean and fresh look with a new cushy seat and a sparkly drawer pull. I love the way this turned out--so bright and, well, fun if you can apply that term to work.
